A few years ago when I was first thinking of making the plunge and purchasing an investment property, I had no idea what to think or where to look. Upon a referral from a friend I was able to meet Fred and he patiently explained to me how the market and quite simply how a house worked. Quite honestly this area had no appeal to me and never even crossed my mind as I had my heart set on a large suburb home. However after showing me listings and numbers from home sales and rentals, it became very clear to me that with the new millennial mindset shifting away from the far burbs and wanting short commutes and easy walkability and access to the subway line that this would be the best place for an investment.

3 years later I am now reading that my area of purchase was awarded the top appreciation neighbourhood in the last decade with a rise of over 300%. Without Fred's excellent advice I would not have been able to see such a quick and dramatic rise in home value over the years.

I was originally referred by a friend to another realtor and was very unimpressed with her services. She was VERY slow to respond to my emails and I decided to reach out to Fred to see if he was able to schedule a showing on a listing that had just come up on the market. Fred immediately contacted the listing agent and booked a showing the next day!

Even though I didn't end up offering on that property, Fred took the time to ask me what I liked and disliked about that property, and what my requirements were. Needless to say, I let my previous realtor know that her services were not needed anymore, and decided to proceed with Fred instead. He was on the ball with scheduling showings, and quick to respond to all my questions. I had brought my mom along with me to the showings (I wanted her feedback) and Fred was respectful and courteous to her. To make her even more comfortable, he spoke to her and answered all her questions in Cantonese (her preferred language).

What impressed me the most was all the work he did behind the scenes and really knowing his client. There was a property that I was interested in that needed a bit of work. He knew I wasn't comfortable offering their asking price, and preemptively reached out to them to see if they would consider a lower amount before I could even ask him to! All in all, purchasing a home, especially your first home, can be very stressful and I'm so glad that Fred was on our side. We ended up purchasing a home that fit our requirements, all within (and actually lower) than our budget.
